The mission of the Darien Junior Sailing Program is to provide a safe, fun and empowering learning environment in which to develop the skills required for sailing; to promote personal growth and independence within the sport, to achieve proficient levels

Required Sailing Gear

All junior sailors are required to have the following:

 

  • Approved Coast Guard Life Jacket Level III
  • Storm whistle
  • T-shirt
  • Water shoes (preferred) or Teva-type sandals, NO flip-flops
  • Sunscreen, applied before the sailor leaves home
  • Water bottle
  • Hat (optional)
  • Sunglasses (optional)
  • Towel (optional, but necessary on first day for the swim test)


Remember to have all items clearly marked with the sailor’s name.

 

Landfall Navigation in Stamford is a good source for all sailing gear.
